Ban'ya Natshuishi and the tile

The Portuguese poet Casimiro de Brito went to Tokyo to a Poetry Festival organised by the Japanese poet Ban'ya Natsuishi. I asked Casimiro de Brito to give to Ban'ya a small Portuguese souvenir from the times that Issa was writting poetry. Ban'ya published on his blog the folowing text - That I can't traselate - about the Portuguese tile, Thank you Ban'ya!

東京ポエトリー・フェスティバル２００８出演の海外詩人から、いろいろ贈り物をいただいたが、最もユニークなのは、ポルトガルのタイル。カジミーロ・ド・ブリトー (Casimiro de Brito) が、友人のダヴィード・ロドリグス (David Rodrigues)から預かってきた。

ダヴィード・ロドリグスは、リスボンの大学教授、世界俳句協会会員。このタイルは、２５０年前のもので、小林一茶が生まれたときに作られたというメッセージが添えられていた。タイルには、ヨーロッパでよく見られる、様式化した百合の花が描かれている。調べてみると、小林一茶が生まれたのは、１７６３年。いまから２４５年前。　　　　一茶の国へと空飛ぶタイルをブログに据える　　　　百合の花咲くタイルは一茶の同級生　　夏石番矢
